Mawamba Lodge Tortuguero

Gastronomy

Stay for the meal.

The village is close, but the best meals in Tortuguero are at the lodge. Open-air restaurant near the Caribbean Sea, three services a day, pool snacks in between, and a mini market at reception for anything else.

The mini market in the reception area is open through the day for snacks and drinks.

Breakfast β€” buffet, on your way out.

Guests are usually on their way to or from a tour at breakfast, so we serve buffet-style β€” the best way to start the day in the rainforest without slowing down.

Lunch β€” poolside or in the restaurant.

Eat at the pool bar, from your lounger, or at the lounge beside the bar. Γ€ la carte, casual, and built around the pool atmosphere β€” the place to slow down between morning and afternoon plans. If you'd rather eat indoors, the main restaurant is open for lunch too β€” same Γ  la carte menu, same kitchen.

Dinner β€” dim lights, Γ  la carte.

In the evening the restaurant shifts: softer lighting, quieter tables, room to take your time. We run nightly specials β€” Caribbean dishes (seafood, coastal flavors) alongside off-menu plates that change with what the kitchen finds that day.

Open air, ocean sounds.

The restaurant is open on all sides β€” no walls or doors. What you'll hear is the Caribbean Sea (we're closer to it than to the canal), if you listen carefully under the conversation. The bar offers a small wine list, cocktails, and Costa Rican beers.
